As Head of Strategic Business Development for Hill & Smith Holdings’ Roads & Security division Tabu’s working knowledge of the data centre market as well as the security products provided by the HS Security Group of companies is an invaluable asset to the HS Security team.
Tabu has a number of years’ experience in the data centre sector both within a Tier 1 contractor and specialist subcontractor environment.
He is familiar with the fundamental challenges within the sector, such as the principles that guide the mechanical and electrical configuration within the data halls and the ever-evolving technologies that drive changes in this area.
He also has a detailed understanding of the market structure, including the drivers for data centre expansion, as well as who the main operators are and how they fit into the sector hierarchy, including those who are focused on Edge computing.
With a background in strategic development for blue chip companies, Tabu moved to Interserve in 2007 as part of the National & Strategic Accounts team. As part of this team he led and managed the relationship between Interserve and high profile clients with large, national framework contracts.
Assigned to British Telecom, Tabu managed a framework totalling circa £300m. This national programme created new space within BT’s telephone exchanges to facilitate the installation of new equipment to form the ‘21st Century Network’, strengthening the UK’s broadband network to drive faster and more reliable connectivity nationally.
Soon after this Tabu moved into the Data Centre sector, identifying a significant growth market. He recognised that partnering with a specialist company who were already strong in the sector would be a critical success factor.
Pinpointing a specialist data centre, design and build company who could manage the design and installation within the data centre ‘shell’, Tabu identified a collaboration between the two companies.
After successfully establishing this new partnership the two companies worked together to approach some of Interserve’s existing clients who had data centres within their estates and secured a number of highly technical projects.
Now as Head of Strategic Business Development for Hill & Smith Holdings’ Roads & Security division Tabu’s working knowledge of the data centre market combined with his knowledge security products provided by the HS Security Group of companies is an invaluable asset to the HS Security team.
